Welcome to Halstead!

We’re so happy you chose to move to this wonderful village and hope you’re settling in well.

There’s always questions when you’re some place new and we hope that the info below or on our local infomation pages answers some of those for you.

We hope you never need it, but if you do find yourself in a situation where you do then the nearest defibrillator is situated on the Parish Room Church Road

You will need the code to access it which you can get from the ambulance service so in an emergency please call 999 before you set off to get it.

Doctors Surgeries
Finding a suitable doctors surgery is a personal choice depending on your needs and where you can register will sometimes depend on which end of the village you live in.  The best way to find a surgery is to visit the NHS website.

We know that our residents are registered at the following surgeries:
Green Street Green Medical Centre
Otford Medical Practice
Chelsfield Surgery
The Family Surgery

Emergency Care

We are very lucky that Sevenoaks Hospital has a fantastic Urgent Care Centre which you should visit if you need urgent medical attention, but it’s not a life-threatening situation.

If the situation is a genuine life-threatening emergency then our closest A&E is the Princess Royal University Hospital (or The PRUH as it’s commonly called)

Dentists
Dentist surgeries are in high demand. The easiest way to find one is to visit the NHS website

or visit https://www.dentistnearme.uk

Paul Butts – Mobile fishmonger attends outside Hancocks every Wednesday from about 12 30pm for 1 hour

You can find which day your bins are collected here.

In Sevenoaks, we have weekly collections of both black and clear sacks. We are supplied with one pack of clear and one pack of black sacks every 20 weeks but we are not supplied with wheelie bins.

If you need more sacks, you can purchase them from Hancocks Village Store.

You need to have your rubbish out in front of your property by 7am – we do have families of foxes all over the village so be careful with your contents and your timings!

You can find out more about what you can and can’t put in the different bins here

Once a quarter, the Parish Council organise a special bin collection for large items. This occurs on a Saturday Morning and takes the type sof things you’d usually have to dispose of at the tip – mattresses, old armchairs etc… It wont take white goods, paint, garden waste or hardcore. Keep an eye on our webpage to find out when it’s coming next.

Garden waste

Green bins can be purchased for garden waste from Sevenoaks District Council . Alternatively, you can purchase brown sacks from Hancock’s Village Store.

Our village shop is Hancock’s Village Store. It stocks the items that you’d expect a village store to stock and has the added bonus of being a Post Office!
