Halstead Parish Council pays Sevenoaks District Council to provide a freighter service to help our residents to dispose of large bulky waste.
The freighter service is essentially a private skip for residents which visits the village 4-5 times per year. The freighter lorry will take away all your bulky items that you would otherwise need to take to the tip. Old mattress? Old sofa? Garage clear out? Take it to the freighter.
Please note, items left unaccompanied before the freighter arrives will be treated as fly tipping and subject to prosecution.
The freighter service will be visiting the village on:
Saturdays
8th March 2025, 12th April 2025, 12th July 2025, 1st November 2025 , 21st March (2026)
They will visit:
Crow Drive at 11.30am
Southdene at 12.15pm
They are at the Knockholt Pound at 10.45am.
What will they take:
Most things! They don’t accept big panes of glass, lots of garden waste, fridges/freezers or tins of paint. They also are able to refuse items if they have any suspicion you’re depositing waste from a trade.
If in doubt, ask the driver! They are very friendly.
